Q&A: Proper epididymitis treatment?

Question by sir kingsley vallintino: Appropriate epididymitis treatment?
My physician is treating me for what he believes is a minor case of epididymitis. He put me on ibuprofen (1800 mg/day) for a month, and when that didn't do anything he had me go in for a scrotal ultrasound, which apparently confirmed epididymitis (thankfully not cancer or torsion!). Soon after that, he put me on far more anti-inflammatories (naproxin this time) for 2 weeks. That was 2 weeks ago, and in fact the pain has gotten worse. Created an appt with the urologist, but it is not for 2 weeks. My question is, it appears like a lot of times it is treated with antibiotics -- should he be prescribing me those instead? If it matters, I don't think it is the result of an STD (ie gonherrea). Everyone got guidance for making it feel greater until my next appointment?
